DOD Seeks Expanded Authority to Outfit Allies with Key Equipment

The Defense Department is seeking new authority from Congress that would give the military more flexibility to rapidly provide night-vision goggles, radios, body armor and other equipment to partner nations and security forces conducting counterterrorism missions, stability operations and peacekeeping activities. The Pentagon asked for the new authority in a package of legislative proposals forwarded to lawmakers April 28.
