England to Participate in DD-21 Matters But Steer Clear of GD Merger Bid

The Navy has decided that Navy Secretary Gordon England should recuse himself from matters involving General Dynamics' $2.6 billion bid to buy Newport News Shipbuilding, but declared he is free to make decisions about the DD-21 destroyer GD and other companies are vying to design and build, a spokesman for England told Inside the Navy .
