European Consortium Awarded Contract for MIDS Fighter Datalink Terminals

The Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command has awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for "the industrialization, production, system engineering and integration support of the Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals." Euromids, a European consortium, was awarded a deal worth about $190 million to supply secure, jam-resistant, interoperable communications links for the fighter aircraft of U.S. allies France, Germany, Italy and Spain -- a capability needed for "critical NATO operations," the Navy said in a statement today.
