F-35 Acquisition Costs Drop $7.5B While Airframe Price Jumps $4.4B

The Pentagon's latest Selected Acquisition Report shows a $7.5 billion decrease in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program's acquisition costs, but a $4.4 billion increase in airframe cost. The Pentagon delivered the report to Congress and released a public summary March 19. The report considers figures determined by both the F-35 joint program office and the Pentagon's cost assessment and program evaluation office.
