F-35 Cleared To Resume Flights Following F135 Engine Analysis

F-35 flight operations can resume following an engineering analysis of a cracked turbine blade found in one of the jets, according to a program office statement issued today. This decision concludes a cautionary flight suspension that began on Feb. 21 after a 0.6-inch crack was found on a third-stage turbine blade of an F-35A conventional-take-off-and-landing aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base, CA, during a routine inspection.
