Fincantieri to Acquire LCS Shipbuilder

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Manitowoc Marine Group (MMG), which is building the first Littoral Combat Ship for Lockheed Martin. The Manitowoc Company, Inc., will sell MMG to Fincantieri for roughly $120 million in an all-cash deal that will likely close at the end of 2008, the Italian contractor said in an Aug. 4 statement.
