FMTV Maker Touts Successful Truck Upgrade Effort

Stewart & Stevenson, maker of the Army's Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles, yesterday announced it has completed driveline upgrades on 3,340 trucks at its manufacturing plant in Sealy, TX, as well as on more than 50 percent of the service's fielded fleet. The driveline upgrades were required after the truck components caused a few accidents in early 1998. Stewart & Stevenson and the Army found the problems and began fixing them that year.
