GAO Denies Bath Iron Works' Protest of DD(X) Award

The General Accounting Office today quashed a protest by General Dynamics' Bath Iron Works, which alleged the Navy unfairly awarded a $2.9 billion DD(X) ship development contract to the Gold Team led by Northrop Grumman and Raytheon. The Navy's hold on DD(X) -- a stop-work order imposed in May as a result of the protest -- has been lifted, allowing Northrop's Mississippi-based shipyard Ingalls and Raytheon to proceed with the program, a Navy spokeswoman said.
