GAO finds Pentagon can manage 'routine' continuing resolutions without major impact

The Government Accountability Office has found that the Pentagon can mostly manage its way through Congress' inefficient continuing resolutions without significant impacts to major defense acquisition programs. Congress is fast-approaching the end of the current fiscal year and -- in order to stave off a government shutdown -- will likely need to pass a stopgap continuing resolution that freezes spending at previous-year levels and prohibits spending on new defense programs.
