GAO: Pentagon Needs New Policy for Managing 'Non-Standard' Forces

Defense Department leaders should draft a new policy to manage Air Force and Navy service members loaned to the Army to cover personnel shortages in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a new Government Accountability Office report. The new policy should ensure that these so-called "non-standard" forces receive adequate training before deploying to combat zones, the May 30 report states.
