Gates Expects ISR Task Force to 'Disappear'

Progress made by the Army and Air Force in rapidly fielding intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance technologies to Iraq and Afghanistan will allow the Pentagon to do away with a special ISR task force, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said today. Gates set up the senior-level ISR task force last year and told its members to come up with rapid deployment strategies. In August, Gates approved a $1 billion spending plan drawn up by the panel.
