Germany asks U.S. for pricing on CH-53K heavy-lift helicopters

The German government has sent the United States a request for pricing on 41 CH-53K "King Stallion" heavy-lift helicopters, according to a program official. The Marines are developing the CH-53K to replace its legacy heavy-lift helicopter, the CH-53E "Sea Stallion." The new aircraft is being developed to carry 27,000 pounds externally over 110 nautical miles, which is three times the lift capability of the CH-53E, according to Col. Hank Vanderborght, the program manager for heavy-lift helicopters at Naval Air Systems...
