Germany Breaks With Patriot In Pick Of New Air-Defense System

Germany has picked the Medium Extended Air Defense System as the new weapon of choice for intercepting short-range missiles and other aerial threats, according to German officials. The former trans-Atlantic project had been rumored for weeks to be the front-runner for the German "Taktisches Luftverteidigungssystem" program, or TLVS, estimated at $4.5 billion.
