Guardian UAV Makes Successful Shipboard Landing

The Navy announced today that it has taken another step toward having a vertical takeoff and landing unmanned air vehicle operate from its ships by successfully landing a UAV on the Coast Guard cutter Thetis. The demonstration took place Nov. 22. The Guardian UAV, built by Bombardier Services of America Corporation, made a series of approaches and a stable hover over the cutter's flight deck to evaluate vehicle control and automatic landing system tracking accuracy, according to a Navy statement...
