Hagel Announces Major OSD Organizational Changes

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said today he will overhaul and trim his office's bureaucracy while improving oversight of key policy matters like cyberwarfare, weapons of mass destruction and homeland defense. The changes -- driven both by fiscal pressure and statutory requirements to streamline Hagel's office -- will reorganize the Defense Department's policy shop; strengthen its chief management office; enhance oversight of business systems; keep DOD acquisition chief Frank Kendall in charge of buying information technology; and preserve DOD's net-assessment office...
