Honeywell repurposing FLRAA prototype engine for Chinook use

Honeywell Aerospace has plans to repurpose part of the engine it had supplied in an unsuccessful bid for the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft for future use on the Chinook fleet. The company says the effort will increase both power and fuel efficiency for the legacy fleet. Honeywell had supplied the HTS7500 turboshaft engine for the Defiant X helicopter -- the FLRAA prototype submission from a Sikorsky-Boeing team.
