House Approves FY-02 Budget Resolution

The House today passed a fiscal year 2002 budget resolution by a vote of 221-207. Democrats have attacked the resolution, which was agreed to by House and Senate conferees, calling it a "fraud" in part because the Bush administration has yet to determine defense spending levels. The Senate is debating the resolution this afternoon and is expected to vote on it tomorrow morning. The resolution identifies $324.8 billion in budget authority for the Defense Department in FY-02.
