House authorizers clash over nuclear weapons restrictions

Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee are criticizing the Democratic majority for putting "contentious" nuclear weapons restrictions into a subcommittee mark of the fiscal year 2020 defense authorization bill. The House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee's FY-20 measure released today prohibits funding for the deployment of the W76-2 low-yield ballistic missile warhead, a submarine-launched nuclear weapon.
