House Begins Debate On Defense Appropriations Bill

The House today approved a rule covering debate on the fiscal year 2002 defense appropriations bill and expects to vote on the bill this evening. The rule is considered an "open" rule and allows for any amendment considered related to the bill to be offered on the floor. The bill contains $328 billion in Defense Department and Energy Department spending, as well as a $20 billion emergency supplemental that is related to the Sept. 11 attacks on New York City...
