House Panel Urges Retooling of Reconstruction Team Operations

Defense and State department officials should overhaul their approach to provincial reconstruction team operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, putting increased emphasis on interagency unity of command and creating measures to judge the groups' performance, according to a new bipartisan congressional report. The recommendations are included in a report released today by members of the House Armed Services oversight and investigations subcommittee, who began reviewing the government's policies surrounding PRTs last year.
