House Panel Wants Coast Guard in Next QDR, Delay in Report Submission

The House Armed Services Committee wants the Coast Guard's national defense mission included in all future Quadrennial Defense Reviews conducted by the Pentagon. The report that accompanies the committee's fiscal year 2003 defense authorization bill includes a passage that would direct the Pentagon to "assess and include" the Coast Guard's capabilities in future QDRs.
