LCS-3 Contract Awarded to Lockheed Martin; Dollar Amount Withheld

The Navy awarded Lockheed Martin a contract today to construct the third Littoral Combat Ship, keeping the dollar amount secret because of an ongoing competition for future ships. According to Navy spokesman Lt. Clay Doss, the Navy intends to procure two LCS seaframes in fiscal year 2009, the second of which will be awarded to General Dynamics.
