LCS Looms Large in DOD Authorization Appeals

The Pentagon is asking the House and Senate not to cut funding for the Littoral Combat Ship and other key naval programs in the fiscal year 2008 defense authorization bill. The Defense Department's objections to proposed congressional cuts are outlined in two packages of appeals sent to Capitol Hill this week by Robert Wilkie, the assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs.
