Lockheed completes key tests, first GPS III sat available for launch 'shortly'

Lockheed Martin confirmed this week it has completed qualification testing of capacitors on the first GPS III satellite and expects the space vehicle will be available for launch "shortly." After a four-month delay that pushed the expected test completion date from August to December, company spokesman Chip Eschenfelder told Inside the Air Force Jan. 5 that the tests did conclude last month as planned.
