Lockheed earns new deals for torpedo upgrades, anti-sub training targets

Lockheed Martin's Sippican division is preparing to re-start its production line for guidance control sections after earning a potential five-year, $425 million contract from the Navy last month to upgrade the service's torpedoes. The work under the deal involves upgrading the Navy's MK 48 heavyweight torpedoes to the latest variant, Mod 7, according to Tom Jarbeau, Lockheed's MK 48 program director.
