Lockheed Martin Selects General Electric as Engine Supplier for C-5 RERP

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company has selected an engine built by General Electric to upgrade the C-5 Galaxy cargo aircraft. The contract could be worth more than $2.6 billion. Lockheed Martin's selection of the CF6-80C2 powerplant for the Air Force Reliability Enhancement and Re-engining Program (RERP) will include the engine, nacelle and thrust reverser, according to an Aug. 4 Lockheed Martin announcement.
