Lockheed Suggests Scaled-Back VH-71 Program

In a bid to prevent the all-out cancellation of the troubled VH-71 presidential helicopter program, prime contractor Lockheed Martin said today it could deliver a fleet of VH-71s based solely on the initial design. President Obama has said the $13 billion program exemplifies procurement run "amok." Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has also launched withering attacks on the VH-71.
