Long-Delayed Combat Rescue Helicopter Finally Goes On Contract

The Air Force this afternoon announced that it has signed a formal contract initially worth more than $1 billion with helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky for development and production of the Combat Rescue Helicopter, formalizing a surprise inclusion in the service's fiscal year 2015 budget request. If all options are exercised, the company could be looking at a windfall of $7.9 billion over 15 years.
