Lott Lifts Hold on England Nomination

Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) has lifted his hold on the White House's nomination of Gordon England to be deputy defense secretary, but Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME) continues to block a Senate vote on the nomination. England is serving as the Pentagon's No. 2 civilian leader in an acting capacity, but the Bush administration would like him to have the title in full, which requires Senate confirmation.
