Lott Wants Defense Bills Wrapped Up By July 4

Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (MS) said today he hopes the Senate can wrap up the fiscal year 2002 defense spending and authorization bills by July 4. Commending President Bush for traveling this week to military bases and promising military personnel higher pay and better quality of life, Lott said he expects the president to send to Congress "shortly" a report indicating any needs for supplemental funding in FY-01.
