Marine Corps Drawing Up New Readiness Tool

The Marine Corps plans to assess the readiness of its warfighting units by measuring achievement of mission-essential tasks. In a Sept. 3 message sent to all Marines, Commandant Gen. James Jones said the newly formed Training and Education Command is creating "a standards-based system to provide commanders with the tools to plan and conduct training, to assess training effectiveness, and to evaluate unit readiness."
