Marine Corps Tells Stevens Of $215 Million In FY-00 Unfunded Readiness

The Marine Corps has delivered to Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) a $215 million, 10-item list of readiness requirements the service cannot afford to finance in fiscal year 2000. Stevens, the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, asked for the list during a March 1 hearing at which he said he might be able to secure some additional dollars for the services' near-term readiness needs.
