Marines Restart Anthrax Vaccination Program

The Marine Corps has resumed anthrax immunizations for troops who are assigned to or may be deployed to higher-threat areas of Southwest Asia for more than 15 consecutive days. According to the Defense Department's new anthrax policy, announced in June, immunizations start about 45 days before troops are deployed. The Marines have been immunizing designated special-mission units and personnel involved in research and anthrax vaccine manufacturing, as called for in the DOD policy.
