Marines: STOVL JSF to Replace Harriers, But F/A-18 Successor Unknown

FARNBOROUGH, ENGLAND -- Senior Marine Corps officials last week said the short take-off-and-vertical-landing variant of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter will replace the service's aging fleet of AV-8B Harriers. Marine F/A-18 Hornets, however, might be replaced by a different F-35 variant designed for use on aircraft carriers.
