MDA eyes new directed-energy project, concepts for 'pulsed laser prototype weapon system'

The Missile Defense Agency is exploring a new laser project to advance technology able to destroy ballistic, hypersonic and cruise missile threats in all phases of flight -- from the ground, air, sea and also space. The move comes two years after the agency gave up its directed energy work to the Office of the Secretary of Defense in a bureaucratic turf battle.
