Missile Defense Agency's THAAD System Intercepts Target

The Missile Defense Agency's revamped Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense system intercepted a target for the first time, the agency announced today. THAAD Flight Test-03, conducted at 7:20 a.m. Eastern Standard Time at White Sands Missile Range, NM, was designed primarily to demonstrate the interceptor seeker's ability to characterize a ballistic missile target in the high-endoatmosphere, according to a MDA announcement.
