NATO Supreme Atlantic Commander Post Will Remain Empty Through Summer 2003

The post of NATO's Atlantic commander will remain empty from October through the summer of 2003, when the alliance completes a study on the future of the position, a NATO spokesman said today. Deputy SACLANT Royal Navy Adm. Ian Forbes will serve as interim commander from Oct. 1 until a decision is made on the position's future. The Defense Department last week announced that Army Gen.
