Navy advances minehunting mission for Textron's unmanned surface vehicle

The Navy is advancing Textron's Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle as the next-generation platform for hunting mines in broad areas of the water, as plans for an unmanned underwater vehicle to carry out the same mission are lagging behind. Until last year, the Navy had planned to use a semi-submersible called the Remote Multimission Vehicle (RMMV) to tow the sonars. But those vehicles proved to be unreliable, and last fall, the Navy determined Textron's CUSV and General Dynamics' Knifefish unmanned underwater...
