Navy aims to award design contract for Ohio replacement subs by October

The Navy is aiming to award the detail design and construction contract for the Ohio-replacement ballistic missile submarine program by the first day of fiscal year 2017, according to the service's submarine program manager. The government is exchanging questions and answers with the Ohio-replacement prime contractor, General Dynamics Electric Boat, and will go into "hardcore negotiations" with the company later this summer, according to Rear Adm.
