Navy delaying LUSV production to reduce risk

The Navy has pushed out production of its Large Unmanned Surface Vessel until fiscal year 2025 to reduce risk, according to recently released budget justification documents. The delay in planned Detail Design and Construction for initial production signals a “major change” between FY-22 and FY-23. The Navy hopes this move will “align with risk reduction and qualification plans,” according to the documents.
