Navy issues solicitation for the Boise to private shipyards due to backlog at public yards

The Navy recently issued a solicitation to private shipyards for the overhaul of the attack submarine Boise (SSN-764) because of a backlog at the public shipyards. On March 17, Naval Sea Systems Command released a solicitation for the engineering overhaul of the Boise. This type of maintenance period takes about 24 months to complete.
