The Navy is considering a “phased approach” to recapitalizing the five mission sets bound for a potential common hull shipbuilding program, according to a service spokeswoman. The service has been studying the viability of a Common Hull Auxiliary Multi-Mission Platform, called CHAMP, a ship hull capable of serving five distinct mission sets.
