Navy picks Harpoon missile for quick deployment on LCS

The Navy is contracting with Boeing to install a Harpoon missile system on a Littoral Combat Ship this year, carrying out a directive from a top official last fall to outfit forward deploying LCSs with over-the-horizon missiles. Naval Air Systems Command is planning to award Boeing a sole-source contract to install an Advanced Harpoon Weapon Control System on an LCS by the third quarter of fiscal year 2016, according to a Feb. 11 notice posted to the Federal Business Opportunities...
