Navy taking steps to improve fire safety after release of Bonhomme Richard fire investigation

The Navy is working to improve its fire safety after the July 2020 fire that destroyed the amphibious assault ship Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6). On Wednesday, the service released both the command investigation into the fire as well as an executive summary of the Major Fire Review the service conducted that looked at 15 major fires over the past 12 years.
