Navy test-driving Zumwalt in Pacific as part of fleet integration process

The Navy is integrating its most advanced warship with U.S. Pacific Fleet, introducing the troubled ship class into an operational environment. The service is not using the term “deployment” to describe the guided-missile destroyer Zumwalt’s (DDG-1000) presence in the Indo-Pacific. A Navy official told Inside Defense the service is learning about Zumwalt’s maintenance and sustainability to inform future deployments.
