Navy testing extended-range, air-launched Harpoon with data link

The Navy is in the midst of operationally testing an extended range, networked version of the Harpoon anti-ship missile on F/A-18 fighter jets, according to a Boeing official. The weapon, dubbed "Harpoon Extended Range (ER) Two-Plus," features a data link allowing a missile fired by one aircraft to be controlled by another aircraft or targeting platform, according Jim Brooks, director of cruise missile systems for Boeing.
