Navy Urged to Relook Troubled New White House Helicopter

Capitol Hill is pressing the Navy to carefully review, and perhaps even reboot, the troubled program to develop new White House helicopters. Alarmed by a massive cost increase disclosed earlier this year, lawmakers are directing the Navy, which oversees the project, to prepare detailed reports on the VH-71 helicopter. The reports are called for in the fiscal year 2009 defense authorization bill approved this week by the House and Senate Armed Services committees.
