Neller: Marine Corps infrastructure can support 27-battalion force

The Marine Corps has the infrastructure to support 27 battalions but would be able to grow the organization if President-Elect Donald Trump directs the service to move to a 36-battalion force, according to Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller. The service is now composed of 24 active-duty battalions and eight infantry battalions in the Marine Corps Reserve, Neller said Dec. 7 during USNI's Defense Forum in Washington.
