Newport News Awarded $161 Million Future Aircraft Carrier Contract

Newport News Shipbuilding has been awarded a $161 million contract for research and development work on the CVNX, the Navy's Future Aircraft Carrier program. The Defense Department announced the award today, noting the development work "will include systems specifications, design weight estimates, preliminary logistics data, electromagnetic aircraft launching system design integration, and preliminary construction planning."
