NIST pushes ahead on updating guidance for contractors protecting sensitive government information

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is racing to publish a second revision of a draft guidance document on protecting "controlled unclassified information" prior to Feb. 15 in case another partial government shutdown occurs. NIST Computer Scientist and Fellow Ron Ross told Inside Cybersecurity Thursday he and his colleagues have been "working around the clock" to publish a draft of the second revision of Special Publication 800-171 on protecting CUI.
